About Dibbid
Dibbid is for passing things on to people you actually know — flatmates, friends, colleagues, a leaving-town group chat — without turning it into a marketplace.
The ethos
Selling second-hand online usually means strangers, lowball offers, and handing over your phone number to find out someone isn't coming. Dibbid assumes the opposite: a closed circle, where trust already exists and the only thing missing is a fair way to decide who gets what.
So the platform is deliberately quiet. Collections are never listed publicly or indexed. Offers are blind — no counts, no queues, no leaderboards. Contact details are never collected, let alone shared. The only identifying things Dibbid can hold are a username, an optional name your friends know you by, and an optional email for recovery.
When both sides confirm a handover, the listing is deleted outright. What's left behind is an anonymous tally of how the platform is used — never who used it.
Dibbid is free, and adverts keep it that way. They are ethical adverts: never targeted using your data, never informed by what you list or dibs, and never backed by tracking cookies.
How it works
Step 1
List
Add an item, or a whole collection from the Dibbid spreadsheet template. Set an asking price or a discount, decide which prices are visible, and give a dibs-close and collect-by date.
Step 2
Share
Send the link, code or a QR to the people you want. Whilst only those with a link can view your listings, for added security you can add a passcode to your listing.
Step 3
Dibs
The first person to claim calls dibs. After that it's double dibs, and once anyone attaches a price the item goes to bidding — each offer must beat the one before. Nobody sees anyone else's offers, or how many people have expressed interest.
Step 4
Hand over
When a lister accepts an offer, the item closes and the user ID of the recipient is revealed to the lister. Both users already know how to reach each other, so Dibbid stays out of it. Both sides confirm collection, and the listing is deleted.
